项目陈炳章教授凭借paper “Patterns of thermal limits of phytoplankton” (J. Plankton Res.37, 285–292)喜获该期刊的2015 David Cushing Prize。该奖项是为了纪念Journal of Plankton Research的创始人David Cushing 而设立的，授予前一年度年轻科学家在该期刊上发表的最佳论文，目的在于激发青年科学家的研究兴趣及鼓励他们多发高质量的论文。

陈炳章教授获奖论文主要使用线性混合模型分析浮游植物生长的最适、最低和最高温度的纬度分布特征，为本项目研究内容之一。
